HERSTORY is a YouTube playlist that details the history of women in Rock and Soul music over the course of 50 songs from 1958 to 1981.
To LiLiPUT - Eisiger (1981)

If you can look past the occasional (alright! rather frequent) mooney-eyed posturing in the essays, there's a good bit of information. The montages are well-timed and frequently funny. And, well, the music is not to be missed.

Funknroll's other playlists are spottier over all—mainly because many of the videos are no longer available—but may very well contain a number of excellent musical performances.

That's an interesting playlist -- although Fanny sucked, as I recall.

However, if you're talking influence, then I'd want the most sampled female songs of the last 50 years up there -- not for their samples, but for their sublime greatness.

This is awesome. Jacqueline Taieb is my favourite so far. The montages are kind of meh, but the music is pretty undeniable.

Thanks for this—looks like some great stuff there. Of course, anything that includes the unjustly forgotten Kleenex/LiLiPUT is fine as far as I'm concerned.

Fanny sucked, as I recall.

They did their share of sucky stuff, but they also did gems like "I've Had It" (1974). (All you could want to know about Fanny here.)

It's not named 'history' because it's restricted to men. Billions (trillions?) of women are part of history. Women are in no way excluded from being part of the historic record.

Plus, it's ridiculously overused.
