The Grim Reality (via Reuters). The Council on Foreign Relation's 6-part interactive on the genocide in Darfur. We have talked about it again and again and again, and still neither the UN or the AU will recognize the genocide there for what it is.

Imagine you live in Texas - that's about how big Darfur is. Now imagine you haven't had a peaceful night's sleep for about 4 years now, for fear of raids, torture, rape, or murder - that's what its like to live there.

The genocide in Darfur is the first in U.S. history to be declared as such while it is still happening.

During past genocides it was possible to claim that we didn't fully know what was going on. This time, we have no excuse.

You can help.

Save Darfur
International Rescue Committee

Globe for Darfur
Darfur Genocide
Help Darfur Now
Et. al.

If you can't / won't give, at least take the time to make sure you're not supporting the genocide.

Imagine you live in Texas

Stop the nightmare!

More seriously, I share your horror that the UN and AU have disregarded 10 separate Metafilter discussions of this problem.
