I admittedly like MLoR more than most folks apparently do, but how can you not be utterly floored by the tone on Sorrow? Gawdamighty. There's no-one else that I revere so much for reasons of tone alone.

I've always liked Dave's guitar face more than almost anybody else's, because he never tries to look pretty or sassy. He just looks like he wants what he's playing to sound really fucking good. Which is kind of silly of him, because, you know. David fucking Gilmour. Aside from which, I had no idea it was an Echorec he was using back in the day. I'd thought it was an Echoplex.

I've recently been on a Pink Floyd kick. Listen to the solo in this version of Comfortably Numb. Castellorizon was an instrumental on his 2006 solo album that was nominated for a grammy. Gilmour rules. Contrast him against the band just a few threads down.

There's guitargeek, but it looks like it hasn't been updated for a really long time. There are several bands who do this sort of thing on their own websites. Weezer, for example, has an insanely in-depth equipment history page with info on the gear of everyone in the band from the beginning to the present.
