My Firefox has no problems with it.

This looks really great. I've been looking around for stuff like this. Thanks!

Is no firefox problem. IE reports the same: Cannot find server or DNS Error

I just cannot reach the site from here.

Hmm... you must be in Maine.

Thanks for the link, y2karl, this is great! And bookmarked.

How do you mean? Is this site reachable from the US only?

What I at first did not understand were the links in the post; eg the first link Viola Lee Blues by Cannon's Jug Stompers has got an address http://folktunes.org.nyud.net/recordings/33.
This link resulted for me in a 'server not found' error.

However, after some googling I found out I could reach http://folktunes.org/recordings/33, so without the 'nyud.net' part. If I google 'nyud.net' I end up at a Coral website. Presumably I am not allowed to use their services.

So, for people getting the same error, use this link unstead.

folktunes (neat resource!) is hosted on ibiblio, so you needn't save their bandwidth using Coral.

RobHoi, "nyud.net" can be tagged onto any link to prevent server overload from massive requests (say when they are posted on a popular site). Obligatory Wikipedia link.

God, that's wonderful. The Internet Archive just sits out there like a planet, and for years, I've been swearing I'll spend a week poking around in it and finding what lies within. Who ever has the time? This is an excellent place to start. I do declare, filtering is one of the most useful human tasks in the world. Thanks for a grea tpost.

i'VE GOT A BIG PROBLEM.... whenever I see a post like this from y2karl, I start drooling and my right hand uncontrollably moves for the "faves" button.... is there a 12-step program for y2karl addiction?

Sorry, RobHoi, I was just reminded of "yuh can't get theah frum heah" which was kind of a Maine thing, at least, I associate it with Maine. Maybe it's all in my head. Anyway, hope you've reached the site OK, cause there's good stuff there!

From this list, I'd hazard a guess you're a bit of a (fellow) deadhead, eh karl?

I must have seen the Dead five or six times before Pig Pen died, back when they were playing for crowds numbered in the hundreds but I first heard Viola Lee and Minglewood by Jim Kweskin & The Jug Band. I'm more into the likes of Gus Cannon and Clarence Ashley these days. My tastes are headed R. Crumb-ward, I think. He hates everything after the 30s. I make some exceptions. But I will be Mennonite slack to his Amish strict some day.
