Stern is such a great guitar player. Here's a classic performance with Brecker from the late 80's. Stern's solo starts around 5:45.

Thanks for the Mike Stern post, Nicodin. Nylon: Wow. If you can't hear the difference... oh well. If you think you might like Mike Stern's playing, check out his "Standards" CD in which he plays all the stuff he usually does over classic tunes with lots of changes. He totally knows his changes. And as a musician, it's embarrassing that some of the best audience response I get is when I steal some of his pentatonic licks.

Very pleasant and gracious person, as well as the most critically reviled guitarist in the history of jazz. No wonder he hit the smack.
