Herbal remedies can work wonders. But against AIDS? Hard to believe. (from Feed)

Trusting in the typical 'herbal remedy' to cure anything worse than something that would go away untreated anyway is asking for trouble. The only 'wonders' they work are:

• Triggering the placebo effect, which is an excellent treatment for people who are easily deluded. You just need to tell some people that they are cured and suddenly they feel better. And if they imagined their illnesses in the first place, well, now they are cured.

• Sometimes supplying the same chemicals you would get in real medicine from a real doctor. But a real doctor would not prescribe anything without first knowing about the chemicals, what they do to your body, and exactly how much to give you (based on accurate testing). Other sorts of 'healers' often aren't so careful or so ethical.

But if you do go the 'natural' route, you might want to wash your purchase down with a nice big cup of warm, natural piss. It comes highly recommended in natural healing circles.

I am surprised that Feed published an article by a reporter with no background in medicine or science. And he attempts to "evaluate" a remarkable cure for AIDS that has somehow managed to be ignored by the many people working toward eradicating or at least alleviatgng AIDS.

So it is unclear what exactly one should call Coco Toudji . . .

I'd call him a fucking ghoul. Either he is (a) shilling snake oil to poor, dying people or (b) deliberately shielding his miracle "product" from clinical trials and wide distribution for undisclosed reasons, thereby potentially condemning millions to death. (I assume it's clear which scenario I favor.) Why on earth did Feed run this swill?

Do I really have to say it? Did anyone see the South Park episode about holistic healing? I did and I think that herbs and holistic healing is mostly psychologtical (and yes I am saying this as I drink my chamomile tea). It is true that herbs have been used for centuries to heal minor ailments, but the key word here is MINOR.

I think that anyone that knows someone that has died slowly of AIDS knows that this is a laughing matter. Maybe it will ease the pain, the nausia, the dizzyness, the weight loss and the leigons....maybe I will sprout little pink wings and fly away....
