You'll note, loq, that y2karl has added the Sublime tag to his Monk post just a couple doors down. I think it's only fitting, then, that you should add the Ridiculous tag to this.

And so the cosmos balances on the head of a pin. Hell, might as well add "redonkulous" while I'm at it.

The only way it could be more not awesome is if he was on fire, making pancakes, fighting off ninjas with a sword and playing unicycle hockey in the back of a monster truck.

Actually, the "on fire" bit sounds pretty awesome all by itself.

Not long ago, I could have never done this act. Can you imagine a roadie trying to follow me on the trampoline, holding my guitar cable and making sure it stayed plugged into my amp? That would have been quite the feat."

I don't know why I hate this guy so much, but the sentiment seems to be shared by just about everyone in this thread as well as the youtube one. I mean, all he's doing is flipping around and playing some hackneyed riffs, he's not setting kittens on fire or anything, yet...I want him to hurt himself badly *makes a note to look up his shrink again*.

How completely awful! The mean, nasty side of me wanted him to have an equipment malfunction and be flung haphazardly on to some stage rigging. I guess it's cool if it's a one-time "hey lets try this and see what happens" thing. Sadly I picture this load spending a good deal of pre and post show energy focusing on trampoline transportation and maintenance.

As someone commented so appropriately on Rock and Roll Confidential's web site: Cirque de So Lame.

Maybe change that title to "Guy on a trampoline playing a guitar". I was expecting something much more complex involving the achievement of sine-wave neutrality via a gravimetrically balanced equilibrium between peak and trough... and really, really fast bursts of plucking, punctuated by longish gaps of silence where the only sound you hear is that of a guitar, bound into some form of elastic medium, as that medium reaches full stretch mode.

Walking through the forest, my ear heard a tree fall.

Oil is passing $93 a barrel and I'm sitting here watching what the kid from Deliverance would've done if he turned 25 and moved to LA.
Or wait, let me guess, he's from Canada - how innovative. My name is Sasha, I date the trampoline guitar god, and I play the steel balls. This guy deserves his own re-release of Spinal Tap.

I can't wait to see when he goes solo and lands his own Vegas show five years from now. He'll be dressed like Elvis, playing his bouncy guitar riffs in a cage hovering over the kids' arcade area of Circus Circus. In the midst of the the din of slot machines humming out C chords, he will strut his macho guitargod trampoline stuff with every ounce of cheesy showmanship God gave him, everyone will ignore him as yet more Vegas wallpaper, and all will be right with the world.

Guy playing a guitar on a trampoline.

Very nicely put, loquacious. It was indeed. And anyone quick to condemn him for doing just that seem, to quote that fine old Vonnegut line, "like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae."

The thing that got me, though, is that he's supposed to be a (guitar) superhero, and yet right behind him is a damsel in distress, behind bars no less, yelling "Help! Help!" And he totally ignores her to continue showing off. Definitely not superhero behavior.

p.s. These guys seem to being having more fun.

I forgot to mention that in his Vegas show, the girl in the cage behind him will be real. And wearing a big sparkly headdress and twirling a baton. And there will be pyrotechnics... which will one day go horribly wrong and terrify the trained bear that will be performing in the ring on the other side of the arcade. Said bear will then break away from its trainer and run into the crowd. Panic will ensue, but about half of the people will not notice... they'll just continue focusing on their Wheel of Fortune slot machines through a haze of free, watered-down gin and tonics. Meanwhile, GuitarGod, professional that he is, will not skip a beat. As the bear runs lost through the arcade, GuitarGod will continue to bounce and somersault above, soundtracking the debacle with his testosterone-fueled, Carlos Santana-inspired riffs. Because that, my friends, is rock and roll.

Man, Vegas is so fun. I need a road trip.
