EveryScape launched this morning. It's a ground-level mapping service similar to Google's "Street View", only it offers you an "autodrive" feature that automatically moves you through a city or down a ski slope. There are links to information about stores and restaurants in the view and the ability to go inside buildings and look around. It currently features views from Aspen, New York, Boston, and Miami. And of course the obligatory view of a colorful mime with a man-bag. [via]

Interesting. I attempted to do this on my own, with Duesseldorf, Germany--At least, the central part. I had lots of fun with the project then lost interest. I have a huge collection of digital photos though, giving a good look at that city at the turn of the century. I was only doing outside, mainly views from street intersections, with added choice shots for assorted spots. I did have idea of adding shops though, but idea was, click on a store front opens the store's web site.

Hmm. Navigate ski slopes you say? Oddly, I couldn't find a single run in New York or Miami. Guess I'll try Boston next.
