iden.tify.us is like AskMe, but only for the question, "Hey guys, what is this song?"

So, it's just like AskMe.

It won't be like AskMe until they let you ask people to put together mixes of the unidentified songs.

And name said mixes. I can't tell you how many sexual advances I've spurned simply because the interested party couldn't be bothered to name her mix tape. Who are these people?

God, and not a trite seasonal name, either. "Spring into Fall?" What's that shit? No, I want something that's pastoral yet refined, like a fine wine.

One of the things on the Identify? side right now is a Hanz Zimmer bit, but I can't tell what movie its from. The Rock? Speed? No idea, but it's very Zimmery.

But someone else already noted as much on the site. Damn.

All we need is someone to make a shouldieatthis.com and Ask MeFi can be shut down permanently.

I know I'm not the only one that read that proposed url as "Should Die at This", which should autoforward to the darwin awards site.

Good luck with the inline music when the various songwriter/performance licensing groups come calling for their licensing fees.

So this solved a long-running mystery that AskMe couldn't (mostly because I couldn't upload the music at the time). Thanks for this find for this alone, I suspect the site won't make it.

Christ!¬ Its the BACH fugue in G minor, not the GLASS fugue in G minor.
Thank the Goddess!

A song that I've wanted to identify, literally, for years -- answered in a few hours. (It's "Let Me Go" by Cake.)

thanks for the linkup boo_radley and other favoriters

if the url disgusts you, you can use identifyus.com it goes there too

AskMe was a big inspiration for the site as well as other q/a communities.

jca: it is a concern of mine, the goal is not to share mp3's with the world(there are plenty sites that do that), it is to point people to the artists of an unknown song, so they can consume it properly.

allen.spaulding: glad i(tmy on the site) could help id your song, but I hope it will make it :). It had been up for sometime now, but I can't predict the future.

McLir: thanks for using the site, glad it worked for you!

if anyone has questions or comments just send me an email me

thanks again for visiting

IANAL.

I understand -- but I'm not saying you are posting MP3s for download. What I am saying is the various songwriter/performance licensing agencies may/will (?) insist you pay a public performance license for ANY type of music being delivered (inline, streaming, download, etc.) via your site. They may view what you are doing no differently than any podcast, online radio station, streaming, etc. that they require to be licensed for playing music of the artists (songwriters, performers, etc.) they represent.

I'm not telling you this because I have any opinion/judgment about what you or they may or may not be doing -- I am simply warning you so you are aware of possible issues.

Trust me on this, I have had a bit of experience with this very issue. :/

jca: thanks for your warning. I replied to your message as well.
