thanks for the linkup boo_radley and other favoriters if the url disgusts you, you can use identifyus.com it goes there too AskMe was a big inspiration for the site as well as other q/a communities. jca: it is a concern of mine, the goal is not to share mp3's with the world(there are plenty sites that do that), it is to point people to the artists of an unknown song, so they can consume it properly. allen.spaulding: glad i(tmy on the site) could help id your song, but I hope it will make it :). It had been up for sometime now, but I can't predict the future. jca: it is a concern of mine, the goal is not to share mp3's with the world(there are plenty sites that do that), it is to point people to the artists of an unknown song, so they can consume it properly. IANAL. I understand -- but I'm not saying you are posting MP3s for download. What I am saying is the various songwriter/performance licensing agencies may/will (?) insist you pay a public performance license for ANY type of music being delivered (inline, streaming, download, etc.) via your site. They may view what you are doing no differently than any podcast, online radio station, streaming, etc. that they require to be licensed for playing music of the artists (songwriters, performers, etc.) they represent. I'm not telling you this because I have any opinion/judgment about what you or they may or may not be doing -- I am simply warning you so you are aware of possible issues. Trust me on this, I have had a bit of experience with this very issue. :/
