Survivor: Monster Island

Survivor: Monster Island Destroy All Monsters takes on Survivor with a cast of monsters from Japanese films. This looks much more exciting than CBS's show, and the quotes are better to:
Ghidorah has aspirations beyond mindless destruction. "You know what I always wanted to do? Musicals. West Side Story. This 'harass the human race' stuff gets old after a while, ya know?"

Maybe we could combine the two. Humans on one team, the Monsters on the other. I put my money on Godzilla and his team.

Who would bet against Godzilla?

Gamera has my vote. Besides being full of turtle meat, he is the friend to all children AND does this really weird thing where he retracts his legs and rocket engines come out.

Hard to top Mothra for sheer uselessness though. As a comic once said "Mothra attacking your city? Get a giant lightbulb ferchrissakes!"

A friend from Japan once told me that during summer vacation, NHK or whatever channel would dress a couple of guys up in the monster suits and just have them slug it out in a wrestling ring. Ah the halcyon days of Asian youth.

Very nice indeed! Arguably more inspired than Boozevivor (disclaimer: self-link) that I've been fiddling with for the past couple of weeks. I'm envious.

Wildly Offtopic Comment: Is it really necessary to use Javascript in the comment submission at this site? I'm new here and have JS turned off to avoid the endless pop-ups and other crap around the web. I am also unwilling to be irritated everywhere else by turning the utterly useless JS back on to facilitate my joining of these discussions... does that mean my kind is unwelcome here?

If you use Internet Explorer, add MetaFilter to your Trusted Sites security zone and turn on JavaScript just for that zone. (That would be "Active Scripting" in the Miscellaneous category in the Internet Settings control panel applet, at least on Win2K.)

Or -- what I did on my Mac version of IE -- leave JavaScript on globally (it's too useful to turn off for all sites) and add sites like GeoCities, Tripod, etc. to the Restricted Sites zone and turn JavaScript off in that zone.

BTW, just for future reference, this site has a sister site called MetaTalk which has categories specifically for questions, suggestions, and bug reports involving MetaFilter itself, so as to keep the main site free of technical Q&A about the site. (No foul this time, naturally, since you're new.)
