What do you mean, this year?

When I was a sideshow performer, I worked with The Enigma, part of whose act consisted of eating worms and crickets. On my 30th birthday, I decided that I must join him in the rarefied club of entomophages, and so I ate a cricket.

I should like to report that I found the insect crunchy, though no where near as crunchy as, say, Cracker Jacks. The taste was simply not there; a bland sort of repast, something like Orthoptera tofu...

In case anyone in the Boston area is curious, Sugar Heaven on Newbury Street sells insect candy. I must admit I have yet to try them, and I probably never will.

Tube - you're Matt "The Tube" Crowley, inventor of the "gavage," formerly with the Jim Rose Circus! That's so cool! I think regurgitation as performance is an under appreciated art form. I think the world needs more "human ostriches." :)

As to eating bugs, I mostly try to avoid them. Although I have found ants to be crunchy.

Am I the only one who thought this was about Incest Candy?

This is fascinating, and wonderful, and horrible all at the same time.

No, I'm not talking about insect candy. That's tame stuff.

What I mean is, heck, we have a genuine Jim Rose Circus performer here in our midst, who has both given us insight into his craft and posted a video of one of his peers in action, and I'm deathly afraid he'll next post a video of his own act and I'll have to decide - do I support my fellow MeFite and watch his video, or do I RUN AWAY IN ABJECT HORROR?!?

I am suddenly (if only momentarily) at peace with the fact that my workplace has blocked youtube, effective today.

That's awesome, Tube. That looks like a few years ago, before The Enigma got all his puzzle pieces filled in. I love it.

I've always had a soft spot for sideshow, and I really applaud all of you guys for bringing it back in your own particular way.
