Of course I thought this was a music post at first. So, obligatory salsa link: perfect music to accompany your preparation of these fine recipes! posted by flapjax at midnite at 8:35 PM on November 11, 2007 [6 favorites has favorites]
Kicks ass with grilled chicken; I seem to recall it working really well with grilled fish as well. posted by gompa at 9:38 PM on November 11, 2007
Is this an answer to our recent hotstuff post? If so, I appreciate the effort, but really, I can find salsa recipes on my own.
Really, really appreciate the effort, and love all the unvouched-for recipes, but this could actually be a decent fpp if you had different timing and some better content. er, well, basically try again... posted by a_green_man at 9:51 PM on November 11, 2007
The most amazing fire-roasted salsa is the one from La Fogata in San Antonio. I moved away years ago, and now I order a case of this stuff once a year or so. posted by neuron at 10:13 PM on November 11, 2007

A good, basic green chile salsa recipe about halfway down the page, though I would add cilantro and a little bit of lime juice, and put it all in a blender for a few seconds, until slightly pureed. posted by krinklyfig at 10:20 PM on November 11, 2007

Pico de Gallo with no tomatillos? Bleah! posted by ahimsakid at 10:04 AM on November 12, 2007
great, thanks melorama, now I have to get Chipotle Garlic Salsa shipped from Colorado, because it has apparently motivated Dave to stop reviewing salsa it was so good and ranked a 9.5 on his scale. So now I have to try it. posted by mrzarquon at 10:32 AM on November 12, 2007
I miss fresh strawberry habanero salsa from Casa Nueva in Athens, OH.
mrzarquon: Apparantly, the reason why Dave stopped reviewing Salsas a while back is because he had some serious, undisclosed health issues. He was even thinking of pulling the whole site offline, but decided to keep it up due to public support. I really hope the guy is okay. posted by melorama at 7:55 PM on November 12, 2007

Oh, man, is this SoCal expat salivating. I can smell my mom's Pico de Gallo right now (made with avocado from the tree in our front yard, the tomatoes and cilantro from the back yard.
I made tortillas from scratch yesterday (easy!) and we had tacos. So good. Mexican restaurants in Kyoto charge a fortune. posted by planetkyoto at 4:15 AM on November 17, 2007
