City of Sound as it describes itself, is a blog about cities, design, architecture, media, music, etc. But calling it a blog really does it a disservice. City of Sound is a category-killer; amazingly dense, thoughtful, erudite, and compelling, it begins to catalog our urban identity. A bit of reminiscent of Metropolis magazine, if it was edited by Robert Rauschenberg. If you've not visited, do yourself a favor. It is a treasure trove.

This is essentially a post to a single site, (perhaps not so) cleverly disguised as something else, but City of Sound seems to this submitter as without peer. That being said, if you know of other similar sites, please share them.

Very similar to BLDGBLOG, which I love. Thanks.

Looks great, thanks.

This is essentially a post to a single site

You say that as if it was a bad thing? Where does the myth that a post has to have several links to be good come from? Who thinks that, and why?

I don't know. I don't post much (3x in the last year?), but my previous posts have been a bit more fulsome. I do know I've seen some criticisms of single posts in the past. Thus my efforts to deflect the same herein.

I know phrases like SLOE (single link op-ed) gets thrown around but other than that I don't think anybody dislikes single link posts, or at least I've never run into anybody who does. But I guess that's a discussion for MeTa, not here. Sorry for the derail.

Thanks for the link. That is a pretty great site, very much in the league as BLDBLOG.

In a different but similarly excellent vein: Locust St.

crazy! I added this site to my reader about a month or so ago and have been thoroughly enjoying it since. Nice to see it getting wider exposure.

City of Sound has been a favorite site for the last 2 or 3 years. Amazingly it keeps getting better.

In a similar way with quality, but with more photos, fewer words, and more frequency is Jan Chipchase - future perfect. Jan travels the globe capturing how people use things and interact with objects. It is very different from Dan Hill's City of Sound, but is a regular read.
