Well, you say, what's the exponential function? This is a mathematical function that you'd write down if you're going to describe the size of anything that was growing steadily.What about things growing steadily at a linear rate?! I think he meant to say something like anything that was growing steadily at a rate which is a function of the current size, but maybe I just don't understand the exponential function. His main point is, after all, that we humans have an inability to do so. But, couldn't it be that professors' imprecise speech causes some of the confusion?
