some say Tale of Tales [w] is the best Soviet ani of all time, others go for Hedgehog in the Fog, both by Norstein, who recently collaborated on a piece with 17th century renga/haiku kingpin BashÅ. His next film, a computer devoid hour long adaptation of The Overcoat, is a quarter century in the making. the less interesting, Disneyesque (except for the chain smoking wolf) series, Nu, Pogodi! ("Just you wait"), is the most popular by a long ways. yeh, but Khitruk's parodies are probably the most fun. though why watch Soviet animations when you can watch pre-Soviet entomologicheskii stop-motion? better yet, forget the russkis. posted by harhailla.harhaluuossa at 2:18 AM on November 28, 2007
