For whatever reason, this girl has uploaded over a hundred and fifty videos of Disney songs dubbed in Icelandic (as well as a few other languages). I just can't wait to be king, Strange Things, the Siamese cat song.

My boyfriend has the Disney collection in Danish. It's a bit random to hear "Hakuna Matata" in a Scandinavian accent.

I am addicted. I know the words so well, reading the literal translations is fascinating. Also, put Beauty and the Beast in another language and it seems more... beastiality-y.

For the record, tunfiskur means tuna fish. It's weird for me to see those, because I grew up watching them in English, Icelandic dubbing of Disney movies hadn't really started and by the time it had my English was good enough and my adolescent original-is-best fundamentalism starting to set in that I went to see Disney movies subtitled after the dubbing started. If you think hearing Hakuna Matata in an Icelandic accent is weird for you, think of how much weirder it is when the song's all different from the one in your memory and you understand the words!

I feel bad about not understanding anything, but they sing too fast. (I usually understand some Icelandic since Norwegian and Icelandic used to be the same language).

I just noticed, for the first time, that those Siamese cats have buck teeth and Tojo-by-way-of-Warner-Bros accents. When I was five my dad used to reduce me to fits of hysterical laughter by singing that song. We watched the Siamese cat song multiple times last night -- I said to my boyfriend "it's as if Björk were trapped in the body of our cats!" And then the cats came in and gave us a dirty look.
