Pardon My Zinger, "A Love Story That Bytes", a romantic comedy about blogging.
IMDB Plot outline: Jeff Daniels and Melanie Griffith star as 20-something web designers at rival web design companies who fall in love while blogging anonymously in Seattle. The boy lead makes friends with an innocent alien giant robot that a paranoid government agent wants to destroy. The girl mingles with Heather I, II and III to be as popular as them, even though she hates them. Hijinks ensue when the web companies make the difficult transition to CSS and XHTML. This is Jack's blogger movie. Featuring Christopher Walken, John Malkovich, and Jeremy Irons as the W3C, and an all-star soundtrack. Strange thing at The Register: "The Register has this morning signed a landmark exclusive $20 million sponsorship deal with software giant Microsoft." Not sure if this is an April Fool or a hack. posted by laukf at 4:10 AM on April 1, 2001

Oh, and is it me or is the Discovery Channel broadcasting upside down this morning (the shows, not the ads of course)? posted by Rockames at 8:41 AM on April 1, 2001
I had a whole bunch of ideas for metafilter this year (did you remember last year? Damn, the images aren't loading.), but I couldn't finish the one I wanted to do last night.
I changed my personal site though. That one was easy. posted by mathowie at 9:42 AM on April 1, 2001
BitBoys acquires NVidia. (It's a long story; if you're not into computer graphics you won't have heard of the masters of vapor, Bitboys.) posted by Steven Den Beste at 9:58 AM on April 1, 2001
Anil has a nice twist on his mirrored site. posted by vanderwal at 11:02 AM on April 1, 2001
pretty sure this one is a PETA prank of some sort, since they use PETA's logo on one page. Could be wrong, but it's gotta be someone's joke. posted by lungoyster at 11:24 AM on April 1, 2001
