I can't wait to see a liquor commercial and an anti-marijuana commercial back to back. posted by mullingitover at 11:35 AM on November 30, 2007 [1 favorite]

NBC can't be faulted for lowering the bar when they know they've got about a month before they become the All Let's Make a Deal All the Time Network. Prime time advertising is about to be so devalued that Ron Paul might even be able to buy time there, for Christ's sake. posted by kittens for breakfast at 12:34 PM on November 30, 2007
Thanks NBC, but I don't need the reminder. posted by inconsequentialist at 12:35 PM on November 30, 2007
Or...fuck, Deal Or No Deal. Isn't it pretty much the same thing? But instead of an audience of people in stupid costumes, you've just got one guy in a stupid Howie Mandel costume? God, I'm so old. posted by kittens for breakfast at 12:36 PM on November 30, 2007
I'm sure beer ads have no influence on anyone's drinking. Ever. If you're going to allow one and not the other, you're a hypocrite. posted by cmgonzalez at 12:57 PM on November 30, 2007
Um, Jack Daniels has been advertising on National TV (ABC) for the past few years via their NASCAR sponsorship of the (what else) 07 car.
FWIW Tivo has just engineered a deal to offer minute by minute ratings. So finally they'll see that no one watches the commercials...except during the Superbowl. posted by Gungho at 1:15 PM on November 30, 2007
Not NBC. WNBC. Which are both owned by NBC Universal. posted by 3.2.3 at 1:39 PM on November 30, 2007
It's probably a wise move. I find NBC's programing is vastly more tolerable when drunk. posted by quin at 3:01 PM on November 30, 2007
Is this a good place to mention how much I love the Dewar's advertising? Humor and decent typography far outweigh any potential risk to the youth of America. posted by cedar at 3:11 PM on November 30, 2007
Hang on, aren't prescription medicines widely advertised on American TV? But there was some concern about liquor? posted by markr at 4:22 PM on December 1, 2007
