My vote goes to Bonsai Kitten

My vote goes to Bonsai Kitten as I'm still getting outraged mail railing against this site, but seeing as it's April Fools day, what are everyone's votes for the best net pranks this year?

The one which caused the most visceral response in me was "ManBeef". Gack.

I'm something of a fan of NPR's LunarCorp, myself. They did a segment on All Things Considered this weekend, and then really followed through online...

While it was far from stunning or original, I was impressed with TANGMONKEY.COM's, due to its sheer single-mindedness.

Taylor, why would you get email about bonsai kitten? Did you do the site or something?

I thought rubberburner that that other site (both done by lee jeans) pulled the wool over everyone's eyes fairly well.

That was truly awful. Sorry, visceral reaction. But that's what you wanted, right? Why do people make horrible things like that, whether they are real or not? It's like making a really nasty personal comment to someone that hurts the other person's feelings, and then saying, "Just kidding!"

I do that.

I thought Cam did a great job on his site. It's down now, but check out the April Fool's link and enjoy.

Bonsai Kitten is a barbed comment about how twisted it is to modify pets -- clipping ears, producing show breeds that have horrible respiratory problems, etc. It's also a great troll, as evidenced by the ridiculous lengths cat lovers have gone [self-link] to protest it.

The best one I saw was this plan update by GOD games CEO Mike Wilson

And it illustrates nicely what evils are allowed to go on in this world largely ignored while the idiot masses go off the deep end over furry cuddly things.
