Bears is a series of portraits by Kent Rogowski showing teddy bears that have been turned inside out and restuffed. There are more images here. Is it any wonder that stuffed animal abuse is a serious problem in more than two countries?

There was a trend for this kind of thing where I live a couple years ago. It seemed like every month I'd show up at a different gallery, party or cafe and someone would have an inside out toy exhibit. Some entrepreneur will start selling them soon, no doubt, 'cause they are creepily appealing.

I don't know what kind of treatment this little fella is going through, but I hope he gets well soon. In the mean time I think I'll send him a skinned, turned and restuffed human to play with and make him feel a little better.

I'm with ya, Anything. He looks like he's having a bit of trouble breathing which you might expect after being turned inside out. I'm sure there were other bears that weren't so lucky.

Speaking of stuffed animal abuse, The Asylum: Psychiatric Clinic for Abused Cuddly Toys recently admitted a new patient. If you haven't played this flash game/interactive story, you should. It's surprisingly compelling.

: How delightfully nightmarish. I'd like to own a few of those. I just made one from a stuffed dog I had laying around. It was really easy, took about fifteen minutes, and I like how it came out. The stitching on the nose was threaded to the stitching on the mouth, so his face looks sewn shut. There's a stuffed heart hanging from his mouth that says "I WUFF YOU" that sets the whole thing off nicely.
