Radical mascot? I used to see guys who look like that on the street in L.A. every day. Of course, that was why I moved. posted by wendell at 5:37 PM on December 4, 2007 [1 favorite]

I see half a dozen films right off the bat on their Pirate Bay page that are in no way shape or form out of copyright. posted by Lentrohamsanin at 5:44 PM on December 4, 2007
I'm shocked, shocked to find that pirating is going on in here! posted by stbalbach at 5:58 PM on December 4, 2007 [2 favorites]
Karagarga has a much deeper collection, although it's invite only. posted by mike_bling at 9:17 PM on December 4, 2007
This is awesome. Thanks!
Big ups to the Herzog on here. Also, The Hourglass Sanatorium is pretty interesting. posted by Sticherbeast at 10:25 PM on December 4, 2007
Great. I've been wanting to see Werkmeister Harmonies for a long time, and would certainly never have found it in Seoul. posted by Joseph Gurl at 11:27 PM on December 4, 2007
I feel like a tool. But how do I access the pirate bay website, cause I'm using Firefox on OS X and it aint working. posted by PostIronyIsNotaMyth at 1:29 AM on December 5, 2007
I have very mixed feelings about this. The more people that get to see avant garde films outside the mainstream, the better. But some of these artists are still alive and could do with actual financial support from DVD/video sales.
Hopefully the people downloading (and enjoying) these films make the effort to support the artists.
I wish they'd stuck to films that aren't in wide release on DVD but it's interesting nonetheless. Nice to see at least one Wiseman and those Bela Tarr titles though. posted by dobbs at 7:01 AM on December 5, 2007
thanks, there several herzog films here that are unavailable. as for ones i've seen, everyone should watch "god's angry man" (http://freakyflicks.50webs.com/g4.html), a 1980 documentary about a televangelist.
also, it's funny the selective issues that metafilter commentators (at large) choose to flaunt their morality over. posted by ism at 9:25 AM on December 5, 2007
Meh. I have no problems with being morally inconsistent by being pissed off at people downloading Blue Velvet but not being pissed off when they do the same for Pearl Harbor.
PostIrony: Maybe you're using a javascript blocker or similar Firefox add-on, like NoScript? La Bahía Pirata works just fine on my PowerBook. posted by papafrita at 9:41 PM on December 5, 2007
