I have very mixed feelings about this. The more people that get to see avant garde films outside the mainstream, the better. But some of these artists are still alive and could do with actual financial support from DVD/video sales. Hopefully the people downloading (and enjoying) these films make the effort to support the artists. Also: needs more Brakhage.

I wish they'd stuck to films that aren't in wide release on DVD but it's interesting nonetheless. Nice to see at least one Wiseman and those Bela Tarr titles though.

thanks, there several herzog films here that are unavailable. as for ones i've seen, everyone should watch "god's angry man" (http://freakyflicks.50webs.com/g4.html), a 1980 documentary about a televangelist. also, it's funny the selective issues that metafilter commentators (at large) choose to flaunt their morality over.

Meh. I have no problems with being morally inconsistent by being pissed off at people downloading Blue Velvet but not being pissed off when they do the same for Pearl Harbor. *flaunt flaunt*

PostIrony: Maybe you're using a javascript blocker or similar Firefox add-on, like NoScript? La Bahía Pirata works just fine on my PowerBook.
