BTW, registration is no longer required to access NYT. Yes it is, at least in this case. But since 2003 we've been able to use the weblog-friendly version of the URL. I wish MetaFilter automatically converted NYT links like this...

He does have some odd ingredient obsessions, though. Apparently today it's anchovies. He really did just suggest we serve butter wrapped in anchovies to people we want to be friends with.
