A few months ago there was an episode where Adam's head did a slight jerking motion as he laughed, as if he was trying to stifle a hiccup. I thought for sure that it would be all over Metatalk, since it was an obvious nod to the blink tag controversy last Fall. So I guess everything they do isn't covered here.

There used to be this great Arabella Weir character on the Fast Show. The sketch would start with her and another woman playing two confident, assertive modern women having a heated discussion about some technical topic or other. At some point in the proceedings, a man would join them, at which point Arabella's character would be instantly transformed into a fawning airhead, to the undisguised horror of her female companion. I hope I'm not being a dick if I say that I feel a bit like that about this whole Mythbusters/asavage thing sometimes. It's great that we have a celebrity here, but perhaps we could maintain a bit more, you know, dignity.

Note, again that this clip was never aired in the US, specifically because they thought it was inappropriate, so the comparison isn't there. They did air a bunch of other fart related stuff, but it was toned down from this.

I gingerly clicked this link expecting to be excoriated by various MeFites for ever participating in such a lightweight exercise in fluff. I apologize for it, it's a low point just above "Pyramid Power". Someday, over a beer, I may tell the story. I may not. This segment never actually aired anywhere. AFAIK. Discovery was too upset about it's content, and shelved it, along with the finale of me lighting my farts. The voice you hear isn't an aussie narrator, it's my chief aussie executive producer, Dan Tapster, who wrote this segment. When the writers pace out a segment, they use their own voices as a scratch track for Robert Lee. I think this was recorded off the screen at an appearance I did at MIT last year, those kids are good with the intertubes you know. That explains it's poor quality. Poor visual quality. ahem.

Funny, this made me think of a myth I'd love to see either confirmed or busted: a long-standing notion I've held which is that just about every "pretty" girl has had, at least once in their life, a lesbian experience (most involving alcohol). They couldn't really prove or disprove the myth, but at least Kari could provide another data point. The other part of this is that I don't believe anywhere near the same proportion of men have had the same. Now, that could be due to social reasons and pressures, or it could be psychological, but what I think it really is, is this: women are more purely pretty than men--objectively, asexually speaking. I mean, you can take the best example of a really pretty guy, and you've still got man-sweat and beard stubble and hair coming out of their noses and on their feet and asses... I'd also like state for the record that I don't have a crush on Kari. She seems like a nice girl, and I guess she fits the standard definitions of 'pretty', but... meh. And while I suppose it's nice to have a female geek role model for all the girls watching (and guys), I can't help but feel her role on the show is somewhat condescending. She's like a "Tool Time" girl, but look, the little lady can work a CNC mill! Way-to-go! Maybe I just haven't seen enough of the show.
