Keanu Reeve's Girlfriend Killed In Car Crash - Jennifer Maria Syme, 29, died on Monday after her Cherokee hit several parked cars and turned over. A police report said two anti-depressant prescription drugs were found inside the vehicle along with two rolled up dollar notes with traces of a white substance inside them . . . Prescription cocaine? When can I see her doctor?

enough obscurestore stories! if we want to read obscurestore, WE WILL.

Whoa palegirl - don't be so quick to judge. The obscure store link was to the NYPost.com, not the link radio_mookie gave.

Granted this is a general news story and I really don't think MetaFilter's the best place for regurgitated AP wire news, but speedily assuming you know where the poster found a link is bad form as well. They may think they just got a great scoop and wanted to share.

Wow, Mookie, not only did you find this story interesting enough to post to the front page of Metafilter, which is a wonder in its own, you also managed to be disgusting and make a snide joke at the expense of a dead person.

It's actually a pretty sad story. They conceived a child and lost it.

I don't care where the link from, but I find your flip "Dr. Feelgood" comment to be a bit callous. Can't we wait two weeks before we make judgement? The DA probably doesn't have all the details at this point.

A word from radio_mookie

1) I live in NY city so I read the story in the NY Post not on Obscure Store.
2) Yes it is general news.
3) Yes it is a tragedy.
4) Drugs & driving don't mix (at least not the kind she seemed to be prescribed to)
5) I'm not a callous flippant bastard, but I did stir up a few good reactions, didn't I?
6) I promise to read Obscure Store first before posting anything here.
7) I promise not to cut and paste from my blog anymore.
8) I am a metafilter newbie.
9) I'm allergic to feathers.
10) Please accept my appologies.

[rubs salt on wound] Does anyone else get a totally black screen viewing the Radio Mookie site with Netscrape? [/rubs salt on wound]

Really? Which version? I'll have to check into the problem.

Yep, sure do.

I use Netscape version 4-point-something, sorry not sure which. I wasn't actually trying to give you a hard time, I just went to visit the site out of curiousity and it appeared there were some closing tags missing from your HTML.

So what?

Not to be callous or anything, but why is anybody, other than Keanu & family, etc. supposed to care about this?

Sure, sadsadsad, but lots of other people died yesterday, too, and I don't see articles about them. She's not even a celebrity herself(not that it would be an excuse), but rather an adjunct to one.

I continually find myself unable to understand the weird fascination with the innermost details of celebrities' lives.

End pointless gripe.

*sarcasm*

Because they're IMPORTANT! They're CELEBRITY! I mean, like, isn't everyone in America supposed to live dangerous and expensive lives vicariously through their celebrities?
