Oh man. The Final Fantasy parody was hilarious.

On preview- NO WONDER- these are by Fatal Farm, who did the funny/creepy/etc remakes of classic television show intros... I'm sure it's been covered on MeFi before, but I'm failing to find a link.

This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen, if based on nothing other than making Garfield funny again (the only reason it was funny in the first place was I was eight, I swear).

They should do Cathy next! Ack!

Also: does anyone else think Jon looks like a male Mel from Flight of the Conchords?

I don't think my brain could cope with seeing this again at some point in the future, and even if it could it will undo the intensive therapy I see in my future.

Also, yeah, that final fantasy one was fantastic. The skills bit at the end led to my cat thinking I'm insane. Well, more so than usual at any rate.

Well, it's a pretty weird cartoon anyway: One storyline, which ran the week before Halloween in 1989 (Oct 23 to Oct 28), is unique among Garfield strips in that it is not meant to be humorous. It depicts Garfield awakening in a future in which the house is abandoned and he no longer exists. In tone and imagery the storyline for this series of strips is very similar to the animation segment for Valse Triste from Allegro non troppo, which depicts a ghostly cat roaming around the ruins of the home it once inhabited.

There was some speculation about what these strips meant, including the possibility that Garfield was either dead or starving to death in an abandoned house, imagining future strips in a state of denial.

I know Jim Davis has denied that this was the point of the strip, but I continue to imagine that the entirety of Garfield is the deathbed dream of a starving and abandoned cat.

The Mary Worth one is near genius. Thanks, milkrate!

One storyline, which ran the week before Halloween in 1989 (Oct 23 to Oct 28), is unique among Garfield strips in that it is not meant to be humorous.

The author of that sentence has a much different understanding of the meaning of the word "unique" than I do.

I couldn't watch this earlier in the day while I was at work for fear that I'd become "the guy who watches live action Garfield comics in his cubicle." It was worth the wait. Now I want to plaster my cubicle in Garfield comics.

This reminds me of Tim and Eric awesome show great job. It's like these people are really weird, but totally at home with it, and not self-conscious at all. Down-home, comfortable insanity.

I'm torn between being amazingly impressed with the amount of time and effort put into these videos and being amazingly depressed with the same thing.

Haven't watched much of this yet but got a lot of mileage out of the Infinite Solutions stuff. Anyone visited the phony sites? Some URLs are displayed right on the screen, some are only found if you google the phony people and company names. And some of these sites have hidden video content. Fun!

This is one of the things that almost depresses me watch. No matter what I do, no matter what I witness henceforth, it will never be as good as these videos. My wife's going to wonder why I am not excited at the birth of our child, and I am going to have to solemnly look her in the face and say, "The Garfield videos, honey...it was those fucking videos."

If they'd hired David Lynch to make the Garfield movies, this is what I would expect it to be like.
