If a fox gobbles up a chicken and is transmitting the chicken's location in his belly while running around the woods, will it show up on the monitor as a chicken or fox?

The agriculture writers' group has been screaming about this for months. Apparently the Department of Agriculture won't hand over a bunch of information about this program.

Even if when I try to avoid the robo-meat hyperbole this is still mind boggling. This is micromanagement on this highest order, and for what reason? Because we feed cattle other cattle instead of letting them ruminate on *gasp* the grass that their stomachs were designed for? This Brave New World tastes like chicken feces.
Time to start asking my butcher where his meat comes from.

Previously on MeFi. Maine, where I am planning to move the second I can get out of here, has had some of the most interesting resistance to this program. I seem to recall a farmer planting a pie in the face of the USDA shills...

It sure as hell sent a message, Naberius. As did the sheer number of people objecting to the program who showed up at the meeting.
(If you've never been to Maine, you have to understand that Mainers are not much for outsider interference in their affairs. Seriously. Some asshat 'from away' trying to tell them what to do is just about the worst possible thing I can imagine from their perspective).

I've been wondering - if they can actually implement this monstrously huge tracking program on the huge number of livestock animals that we have here in the U.S., then wouldn't that constitute a huge proof of concept for tracking us? It's not like we'd need a tag on our ear, we could get it in a vaccination or some other injection. Would they even tell us?
This shit is seriously freaking me out. The distopian future is approaching far faster than I had anticipated.
