I think it's fake.

Hmmm. I think that guy brings the water suspiciously quickly - and I'm not convinced by his reaction when it craps on him. And roosting birds don't tend to poop like that. (A mispent youth as a twitcher.)

This is fake I think.

"Nothing graphic" is a very accurate description of this staged clip.

It's certainly occurred to me that it could be fake, but I'm very cynical and think everything's staged. but I WANT TO BELIEVE!

Photoshopped, totally.

It is obviously faked but I don't think it was Photoshopped at all. Is 'to photoshop' now a verb extended beyond it's original meaning of something actually being, er, photoshopped?

I believe everything I see. Still, I don't get understand how all of you can assume that this is fake so quickly. People don't have water on the set of a newscast? And even with the poor quality of the video you can tell it's not real bird crap? And his utterly repulsed spitting is bad acting? What does it look like when you spit?

Methinks that the quonsar is strong in this thread.

Maybe the fact there's no such thing as a Canadian brown finch. The fact that the boom mic guy would enter the lens during a live newsfeed. "Pear festival cancelled due to lack of funds" sandwiched in between news of Bhutto and Bush on the ticker. A reporter ruining the shot by going from sunlight into the shade. How everyone in the background is a. panicked, and b. audible, and no one laughing after strike 2. The "spit toothpaste" consistency of the bird shit. The logo has no station affiliate name or title. It's titled "Action News" but there's no developing news item to cover. The framing: "I recorded this last night" and no account for the reporter's name. The unnecessary TiVo blotter at the beginning. And of course the overacting.

But that's just me.

Brilliant post. Magnificent. Best of the best of the web. Mayor Curley wins the internets. Now I can understand why he so often criticizes other MeFier's posts so harshly, why he's so often so spiteful and vindictive in his comments. I mean, look at the man's choice this time around for an FPP. You just can't top this. I am humbled.

lucky bastard.

And I thought "Photoshopped" was the right and meet response to any OMGLOLAMIRITE video clip, while having no bearing on any apparent validity or falsity of the clip in question. Kind of like saying "wassup?"

Innacurate use of the hilarious tag, though.

Most interesting. I believed. Then I searched on "Canadian brown finch" and only got links to the video. ::sigh::

However, birds in trees certainly do drop the bombs. Walking around DC in the evening, after work, I learned to avoid sidewalks with trees overhead, where the bombs were all over the sidewalk.

I believe it's real only because I, myself, have had my mouth pooped in by a foul feathered fiend, and my reaction was almost exactly the same.
posted by Cat Pie Hurts at 5:10 AM on January 25, 2008

Oh damn. I googled just like Goofyy did. Oh well. I bet that bird sings only using brown notes, eh?

What do you do if a bird shits on you?

Don't go out with her again.

In a faraway land, legend is told of the mystical Fufu bird, a bird given the powers of life and death by its creator. According to the legend, if the Fufu bird drops its wastes on a person, that person must not wipe it off for doing so would be an insult to the mighty Fufu bird and will cause that person to drop dead on the spot.

Many a traveler in this land has been warned about wiping away the Fufu droppings; many of those travelers have thought this story to be ridiculous, and have wiped away the droppings. They all died.

Moral of the story: If the Fu shits, wear it.

Those brown purple finches (of Canada)

I'm not saying this video is real, but there are brown finches in Canada.
posted by Mikey-San at 5:44 AM on January 25, 2008

Yes, their name is "purple", not "brown", but you get the point. If you don't, you're a pedant. Also :P

I'd like to say that I think all local news stations should be called "Action [channel] News". It should be an FCC regulation.

Allright, those are all very convincing arguments that its fake.

Which makes me wonder: who goes to all the trouble to fake that?
