That was downright odd. A assume that was the intent, so mission absolutely accomplished. Strangely addicting -- I actually had to watch twice just to make sure I saw what I was supposed to see.

That was fun, thanks! As for the name, the group is actually called Жопа Новый Год Zhopa Novyi God 'Ass New Year' (or 'Arse New Year' for you Brits), but in what I assume to be a mocking pretense at censorship they write it *опа Новый Год, hence the "oppa" version (opa doesn't mean anything in Russian). But you can see the correct version from the URL of their Live Journal (where you will find a nice picture of the group).

languagehat, thanks for the elucidation and the Live Journal link. I am really lacking in the Russian dept, so I appreciate your commentary! hurdy gurdy girl, the myspace link - "festive brass band" - has more music samples too, and they are fun. I loved the soundtrack!
