Here are some pictures. Not an extensive gallery by any means but certainly more impactful than the youtube video. It's interesting to note that the town has been restored somewhat in order to draw tourist cash flow. To which I ask who actually owns this town and where do the tourist dollars go? Private or public and how would this relate to other ghost towns? In example if I wanted to buy a ghost town, who would I speak to (not that plan on it)?

For a GREAT movie filmed there, see Kristian Levring's The King is Alive, a Dogma adaptation of King Lear that finds a number of tourists stranded in Kolmanskop when their bus gets lost off the highway. I found it to be very powerful.

Yes, this place is pretty unforgettable (I was there in '91). There was one guide who apparently spent a lot of his time hiking and he had this amazing 1000 yard stare due to it. You're also not allowed to roam around off-road near there due to the rough diamonds on the ground.
