Holy Crap. I just typed my standard query for these things (Eno's Here come the Warm Jets) and it was playing in two seconds. The compression is pretty awful, though. But still... posted by Burhanistan at 12:35 PM on February 8

Apparently this is just a means for interacting with content from Seeqpod.com, so I'm guessing Seeqpod would have to be shut down for this to stop working.
It's pretty cool, though, and saves me from the usual method of searching on YouTube for various songs I've got stuck in my head. posted by camcgee at 1:06 PM on February 8
They don't have Still Alive or That Spells DNA by Jonathan Coulton, but they've got a pretty neat acoustic version of Re: Your Brains. They also have Jason Webley. So I'm reasonably impressed. posted by Caduceus at 1:10 PM on February 8
I'm really getting a kick out of this.

If you just type in a song name, though, it really needs to tell you the artist of the particular song they decided to play. posted by Caduceus at 1:19 PM on February 8

Nah, they could just point it at Google MP3 searches or something else if that happened. It's just playing MP3s found around the the web. None of the audio is hosted by them. So as long as people post MP3s on the web, this or something like it will work. posted by scottreynen at 1:30 PM on February 8

I asked it to play me Journey's "Faithfully," and I guess it found a version at a strange sample rate, because it played back at a hilarious speed. Highly recommended. posted by uncleozzy at 1:35 PM on February 8

Bring da Ruckus - Wutan Clan = nope
If you want it to bring the "motherfucking ruckus", you've got to know its "Wu Tang", not "Wutan". Otherwise, its pretty friendly. "Ruckus", "Bring the Ruckus" and "Bring Da Ruckus" all worked, so long as I didn't qualify it out with mispellings. posted by Ogre Lawless at 2:07 PM on February 8

Enjoy it while it lasts. While I'm on their side legally (this is 512c straight up), I am not so happy with the way Seeqpod will pull and serve an mp3 from a blogger who's writing for the love of it with no context, no link back, etc etc. I am sure I'll be loudly shouted down here, because hey, free music, but I'm much more in the Hype Machine campy ideologically. posted by neustile at 2:39 PM on February 8

Yeah, I tried it out with some fairly obscure 80s Australian Garage Rock ("My Pal" by God), and it played it! Then I was left wondering who the hell was hosting "My Pal" by God so I could check out their blog or site. Alas, no way of knowing (easily). posted by Jimbob at 3:33 PM on February 8
Songza is much better, in terms of finding more music.
