I liked the Mel Brooks one (The Critic). But then, I laugh at anybody saying anything in that accent. See, I'm simple.

Unfortunately missing one of my favorites, "Frank Film" by Caroline and Frank Mouris. Fortunately, Ubuweb has "Frank Film". In fact, it's kind of sad that the blogger could only find seven films of the twenty awarded between 1960-1980. It was a glorious period of experimentation. Great resource, though. Thanks!

Good post, The Fly by Ferenc Rofusz from 1980, has some interesting Oscar acceptance backstory involving a mysterious bearded man.

What ducksauce said, with a sprig of mint. I don't think I've ever looked at such a wide variety of art, including the modern and cubist stuff I normally forgo, and truly enjoyed it. Vronsky, you rock.

Cool post! I saw one of this year's nominations, Madame Tutli-Putli, at a Canadian film fest this past weekend. It was weird but compelling, and really beautiful. Animation is something that the National Film Board really excels in. [You can watch 70 NFB animations, some of them Academy Award winners and nominees, on the NFB site.] /national pride

'Seeing what oscar winning shorts are on youtube' has been one of those things I've been meaning to do for ages; since I discovered several where up there. Really what youtube, and the internet, is for as I would never see these otherwise, or once in a blue moon perhaps.
