The Athlon 1.1G Processoris due out this summer. I'm sure I'll need it to run my 36GB hard drives and my 140GB CDROM, but it's still a bit of a shock considering that only a few years ago I decided to splurge and get a cutting edge 486-66(MHz) with a 170MB hard drive I knew I'd never fill it up.

Is there an Intel rival for this baby?
I didn't think that a CPU of that speed would be around until 2001.

It was in the early days of the year 2000 that they developed a computer powerful enough to beat all but the best human tic-tac-toe players...

If you mean Whoopi Goldberg, I understand there is a huge heat sink in the center square - if you mean the Altheon, it's apparently not a big heat generator - comparable to current chips at least.
