Yahoo sells porn.Is this a huge change? Is it finally time for them to "put a bit of a filter up, put their hand out and take the money" that flows through for masturbatory purposes?

Still, this is really not nearly as big a deal as it's being played here. AOL and other ISPs have long tacitly understood that adult chatrooms and so forth are a basic underpinning of their service. And before Yahoo, I do believe that there were people out there who managed to find their porn.

And tomorrow, when Channel 1 decides to add pr0n promos to its "news" feed for captive high-school audiences? (And of course yells "First Amendment" if anybody dares to object...)

Don't tell me it won't happen. Where there's a possibility of $$$ somebody always takes the next step.

Anyone else remember the early days of Yahoo when their most popular page was a "top twenty" list of most popular sites on the web and they quickly had to change it to "top twenty non-porn"?

Funny, but Yahoo! has had an "Adult and Erotica" video shopping section for quite some time now, so this isn't exactly breaking news..

Exactly. All the major search engines, portals, and indexes on the net have been making quite a pretty penny directing people to their specific masturbation kink. They find a way to obfuscate this in thier reports to shareholders and employees, but they spend a lot of time and energy monatizing the audience's desire for sexual gratafication. All yahoo is doing is entering into the content side of the business.

don't bother. the stuff they're selling is as crappy as everything else on the market right now...the entire porn market's going through the same sort of glut as the rest of the internet-business sector, and for the same reason: 1) no sound business model, 2) no differentiation of services, and 3) the mad scramble to sell online means badly-produced and/or recycled material from other sites.
