Yin Yang is an acceptable side-scrolling game with a cute gimmick.

I get nowhere. Pressing "control" does nothing. I get all the symbols, for each man, and then nothing happens.... :-(

Aha, it's the "command" key on the Mac.

Man, I suck. I can't get past level 2. I push the box in the spikes but die trying to jump off it every time. I was hoping someone would have dropped some hints here already.

boxes are passages.

Clever, but I gave up the third time I didn't jump on a slug. This could be cool if they could fix the hit detection issues.

See also SHIFT for similar-but-different black/white reversal gameplay.

Did anyone get the last yin-yang on the black side on level 3?

The acceptable of the web.

I would debate acceptable.

don't be like that, baby.

Got bored at level 14.

I die in the first two seconds every time. I must be missing something.

I got bored when it failed on a loading screen. (Next level after the one where one of your dudes has two dragons and the other only has one.)

It seems to be fairly easy to break the physics. If you stack two opposite-colored boxes with one directly on top of the other and then switch characters, the boxes have an irritating tendency to slide off the screen and disappear, leaving an invisible barrier and/or hole in the ground.

Weirdly, on level 3, I can get yin (or yang, whoever) to fall off the screen through a poorly placed box, and he can never come back. blergh.

Clever! Thanks for posting.

I am perhaps missing something rather crucial, and cannot get whitey out of level one. Should I give up and admit that I suck at life?

Squidi seems unhappy about something.

Fun game, though.

Yeah, a nice idea, but did they forget to playtest it or what? On both of the first two levels I managed to get a character stuck in such a way that I couldn't complete the level or find a convenient way to have the character die, so the only way I could carry on playing was to reload the damn page. Screw that...

Or mebbe I just suck at this game...

Level three sucked (or rather, I sucked at level three). Ying can kill the slugs, Yang just stands there and gets destroyed.

There's a button at the top left to restart the level. Sometimes you need to hit it if you get stuck.

I love it. 14 and 16 are my favorite levels so far.

How sad that my 6 year old now knows about things before I see them posted on Metafilter.
As soon as he heard the music he came running over, "I love that game!"

Fun game. There are 25 levels.

Can I borrow someone's six-year-old to dispatch this kill-y, floaty, balloon thing in level 21? I'll bake cookies, and you, mefi parents, can have a couple of hours to yourselves (to spend in ways that I won't question) while s/he helps finish up the game. Deal?

There was some controversy about this game, as the game mechanic was originally discussed on the 300 Game Mechanics site. The Nitrome developers denied they saw Squidi's original post.
