How The Bush Administration Exploited Terror Threats For Political Gain, 2002-2008
February 24, 2008 10:35 AM   Subscribe

The Nexus of Politics and Terror. Keith Olbermann presents a detailed timeline chronicling the Bush administration's exploitation of terror threats for political gain over the last 6 years. It shows how each revelation of an intelligence failure or a Democratic political victory was followed almost immediately by an alert of a new threat from al Qaeda. Larger version here.

This post was deleted for the following reason: this is not a better post. Do you need to go to metatalk to talk about this? If so, we can meet you there. -- jessamyn

I like Keef but this is a deleted double and not likely to wendell.

Isn't "Nexus" another name for "replicant", that is, a clone or a double?

word for word, same OP. what is the sound of a gauntlet being thrown?

Well, the original deleted version was deleted because the OP didn't "make the effort" yet, here we have a post that does explain what's going on.

It was good, and done in the classic Olbermann style. But I really wanted him to talk about times that terror alerts had been raised where there was no political gain to be had.

Like an undead beast that won't stay still, homunculus' post stalks again - making the MetaFilter admins this week's Worst People in the World.

if a gauntlet falls when the mods are fucking the dog, does it make a sound?

I like Keef but this is a deleted double and not likely to wendell.

But wendell liked the first post.

Jess said the problem last time was the lack of context, so I think this post should be okay. If you disagree, please take it to MeTa rather than derailing this thread.

...rant on, you crazy diamond...

(This video 'clip' is a good description of the propaganda tactics that the Bush administration has used. It's worth a listen/view. I don't know enough but I wonder with how the Bush admin efforts compares to Goebbels'? This is not a Godwin-ing but a serious question hopefully someone here can offer insight on)

I like the link, to be honest, Olbermann has his detractors but its not like one can point to a raft of other MSM plain-speakers from the left and say, oh that one is better. On the FISA issue, Glenn Greenwald at the terminally uncool I realize Salon.com has been doing a superb job of dissecting this issue.

I like the link, to be honest

I liked it last time around too. It played straight off the bat for me though. None of the black screens and waiting jess was complaining about.

Very interesting, but I thought it would have been stronger with a timeline running at the bottom of the screen, showing visible the chronological connections. He could also have mapped out any terror alerts which were not connected to political events on this timeline.

This is the slowest-loading video I have ever attempted to watch.

Also, good comic reggie.
