I saw this post out of the corner of my eye and thought, WHAT?!? An NSA wiretap has a podcast?!?

Damn, I thought you meant Gregor Samsa, the band. Excellent one at that. posted by Christ, what an asshole at 1:39 PM on March 19, 2008
Yay from me too! I've been wishing for a podcast of Wiretap for a long time now. Hope it doesn't get yanked. posted by teg at 2:10 PM on March 19, 2008
For a moment I thought you meant this wiretap, the one written by Mark Leyner.
How I would love a new episode of that . . . but I'll hafta check this other Wiretap out, always looking for things to stream at work . . . posted by undule at 4:45 PM on March 19, 2008
Yay! They should clone Jonathan G. and then he can go back and make his back issues into podcasts too. I'd settle for a cd of old Wiretap episodes though. posted by sneebler at 5:27 PM on March 19, 2008

Hey, this could use a "podcast" tag. posted by Pronoiac at 6:41 PM on March 19, 2008
I seem to remember that previous Wiretap episodes were available online, unofficially, and the provider got shut down by the CBC. That made me sad. This makes me happy, and I hope it stays around this time! posted by stavrosthewonderchicken at 2:04 AM on March 20, 2008
Oh, gold! I love this show! Thank you so much! posted by roombythelake at 1:06 PM on March 20, 2008
Jonathan would love there to be an official podcast of Wiretap, and he is aware that there is/are unofficial podcast(s).
The CBC has to shut these things down, though, because they don't have download clearances for the music used in the show. posted by YoungAmerican at 4:43 PM on March 22, 2008
The CBC has to shut these things down, though...
I'm curious if this is actually true. The people reproducing works illegally are violating the copyrights of the music rights holders. I suppose they are violating CBC's copyrights as well, but CBC is under no obligation to enforce the music holder's rights. If CBC were to (in theory) turn a blind eye to these podcasts they wouldn't be in the wrong. At least I think.
Anyway, I think it's dumb that the CBC can't secure the online redistribution rights for the music in Wiretap. If the national broadcaster can't get redistribution rights then our online copyright rules are too restrictive. posted by GuyZero at 9:08 AM on March 24, 2008
Huh, how did I miss this post originally?
