Wow. Very cool and yet oddly disturbing. Who spends their time making little pseudo-nazi steampunk lego machines? This guy does, that's who!

Well, given that they're supposed to be from the 1850s, and the German reich mentioned thus is probably the German Empire (although that's slightly anachronistic, since Germany wasn't unified yet in the 1850s), there's nothing particularly nazi about it. The German Empire was comparable to the British Empire of the same period. The nazis used the "reich" term, of course, and it got somewhat sullied by that usage, but I don't see this stuff as nazi, it's more in the same cast as other steampunk's usage of Victorian England.

"Steampunk is a subgenre of fantasy and speculative fiction" (wikipedia). It's not a history lesson.
And who said anything about nazis?

And who said anything about nazis?

When an average person hears "reich", they automatically think "third reich", despite the word predating the Nazis. Just like the Iron Cross, the Totenkopf, and especially the swastika also predate them, but are now most closely associated with them.

Well, the fact that it's the third reich should tip people off that it wasn't, yknow, the first one.

When an average American (and maybe Brit) hears "reich," you mean. But many of them have nazis on the brain (at least if cable television is any guide).

Besides, if the Nazi had has these, they would have won.
