Dorothy Gambrell is just about my favorite person on the Internet, actually, but I'm now moderately concerned that she's going to see this and wonder why the hell someone is trying to involve her in a breeding program. Her Donation Derby is also excellent Pekar-esque slice-of-mundane-life fun. And you can even buy the book, now.

Very nice. This one in particular was great. Also, there is a Waffle House in Lawrence, Michigan, as anyone who's driven East on I-94 from the Indiana border will tell you. It may not be the Waffle House, but hey, why quibble over details? It's only waffles we're talking about here. It does have "America's best restroom", FWIW.

I'm in Kansas (which, according to the Waffle House map, has one Waffle House per every 600,000 to 800,000 residents). Butbutbut, thought I, I have never seen a Waffle House! So I went to the Waffle House homepage and tried their restaurant locator. It seems that every one of their 6 Kansas Waffle Houses are in the extreme northeast corner of the state (clustered around the metro Kansas City area), thus denying the rest of the state our quota of waffly goodness!
