M.A.S.H. is still my favorite one. Goes great with the theme song.

Hey, those were neat. I once saw someone had done a version of The Last Supper, but with Jesus and the Apostles. I like a good laugh, but I thought that was going a little far.

I once had a teacher named Apostle, but when I told him to eat me it was a paddling.

I try to make every supper my "last" supper.
But then I binge at midnight and it's hard to see my feet.

The inside cover of the Painters and Dockers album Kiss My Art has quite a neat Last Supper re-enactment.

I'll be absolutely buggered if I can find a link to a pic (too obscure, too oldskool)… but here is a youtube.com link to their most famous song Die Yuppie Die, where it is at least *talked about* in the comments section. :)

Someone really needs to do this with Mefites. Who would be Judas?

I see your feet, Dizzy!

You still got ten toes, honey.

"Someone really needs to do this with Mefites. Who would be Judas?" asks Marxchivist.

EXCELLENT question Marxchivist!

Aside from idle guesses, perhaps at least the Mefi regulars, judges and juries should weigh in on this?

posted by LiveLurker at 7:46 PM on March 22, 2008

Damnit, and here I was getting all fangirl-giddy over the BSG version. Nothing new under the sun, and all that.

Judas was a betrayer, yes?
Then I nominate every single sockpuppet out there.
All of 'em.
If they don't have the courage to snark under their own (user)names,
they just betray themselves, babe!
posted by Dizzy at 7:52 PM on March 22, 2008

EXCELLENT question Marxchivist!

I agree.

Off the top of my head I'd go with paris parismus (sp?) and quonsar (sp?). No real reason. Just regular, controversial Mefites that sorta disappeared. Not Judas in the stict definition of being a Judas.

If I'm thinking of the correct quonsar. I remember reading his site where he stated he was nevarr going to post on metafilter.com again. But I could be getting missed up.)

I will be one of the two chicks serving the drinks.

Damn, I almost posted this.
Sorry, loq, you snooze you lose. And I was half expecting to be called out for a double with some obscurely worded previous post.

Do last suppers generally end well?
Well, splitting the bill always goes badly, and those who are about to be crucified are notoriously bad tippers (they may ultimately be resurrected, but they know they're never coming back to the same restaurant again).

Actually, the blog post mentioned one more but only linked to the Folsom Street Fair version for fear of NSFWness (but the Zombie one was OK?) , and also linked to Dan Savage's collection with almost 20 others not in the main post (including dogs, cats and "bears"). And the comments included links to a "pop culture supper" at the NYC Art Bar, a "Shameless" TV plug and puke's devilish contribution.

Other random discoveries: A Last Supper sketch with John Cleese and Jonathan Lynn, a Feminist Last Supper, the iPhone Last Supper Club and MORE!

Still waiting for a "LOST Supper" myself.

Excellent, Wendell, thanks.
The collection is fantastic.
I read all the stories.
Barker tells them with a direct and funny style.
Overall, great riff on our culture.

The best one is definitely the zombie supper. I mean: nothing says Easter like an undead dude who offers you his own flesh and blood to nosh on.

Burhanistan, point well noted, if you believe in the capital G O D.

I believe in capital, and I believe in lambs.

Let's see where this takes the more esoteric among us.

Souvlaki?
posted by It's Raining Florence Henderson at 9:25 PM on March 22, 2008

Souvlaki for sure, at the Metafilter cafe. Roasted lamb, on a skewer, over rice.

The first one that came to mind was the banner at The Petite Claudine. (some NSFW images sometimes, although currently the first bit of nudity occurs way after the fold.) I kind of hoped it would appear on the list because I'd like to find out more about it.

May I suggest we substitute whipped up sweet cream for that sour cream in the cucumber sauce?

On postview, the all Japanese schoolgirl version is included in wendell's MORE link in his comment. That link is almost superior to the FPP one, IMHO. I didn't think that the commentary was very insightful and there were repeats. Perhaps he has not the google-fu of our wendell.
