Hey, does just what it says on the... hey, it's a box!
Smells like AOL in here.
No it doesn't. AOL smells like many things - including fire, brimstone, anguish, and fail - but it doesn't smell of wet tissue, hand lotion or sometimes batteries. And cat.
At least, it doesn't usually smell only like that. Usually there's some fire or torment going on when it's AOL. Like a heavily burnt pubic hair omlette.
Apoglogies to otherwise perfectly nice people who are stuck with AOL for whatever reasons. It's just that... I still remember the horror, over ten years ago, when the Gateway to Hell opened. Try to imagine what that was like, for us nerds. It was like we were at a particularly rowdy CalTech undergrad drinkathon, or at least a good RPG game with lots of beer and pizza and suddenly someone dropped a combined monster truck rally, purebreed dog show and a managerial skill-building conference on us like a blizzard of noise and the most mundane anguish we could think of.
Not that us poindexters deserved it all to ourselves nor to be taken down a notch or three, nor do I believe that in the end it wasn't all worth it to share, and even though some of us got fantastically rich (and even useful) in the process, it was like losing a haven or refuge when it all went down. I remember Pong my first banner ad, my first email spam, my first browser hijack, etc. It wasn't supposed to be like this. WTF, am I channeling Dvorak's Last Column? Stop that! posted by loquacious at 6:54 AM on March 26, 2008 [19 favorites]
I've always thought the whole LOLcats thing was really stupid, but Ceiling Cat rules. If I can find a glue stick my 4-year old will probably like this one. posted by mr. creosote at 7:31 AM on March 26, 2008

Ceiling cat is greater than or equal to Powerpuff Girl cuteness. So cute. Too cute. My eyes are going to swell and burst, and ooze sugary sweetness all Robert Rodriguez-like. posted by thebellafonte at 8:32 AM on March 26, 2008
This is just about eight different shades of awesome. I'm printing it out as I type this. posted by kryptondog at 8:55 AM on March 26, 2008 [1 favorite]

I can't wait to use this to freak out my girlfriend. It's bad enough when my actual cats perch in high places and stare at us. It'll be even worse with a creepy paper cat staring down from above the bed. posted by uncleozzy at 9:51 AM on March 26, 2008
This is fantastic. If it weren't for yellow drum robot, this would be the coolest post ever. But you still get a favorite. posted by misha at 9:56 AM on March 26, 2008

Hee, I printed two of these out and a cohort of mine and I put them on the ceiling and a nearby shelf bottom at our place of volunteering. (They encourage random decoration by the staff.) They are tiny, yet amusing. posted by jenfullmoon at 2:18 PM on March 26, 2008
Funny, the new South Park had something to do with cats, and then I read this. Cats... AND papercraft. Two levels of similarity! posted by not_on_display at 10:17 PM on March 26, 2008
