This is what I get for being so excited. It is not, in fact, An Evening Wasted with Tom Lehrer, but a mix from all of his albums. posted by griphus at 5:59 PM on March 26, 2008
Hey, MY Tom Lehrer post wasn't single-link (and was titled "Is He Still Alive?"). Anyway we need a regular dose (maybe a continuous intravenous drip) of his kind of humor, so let me add another YES! posted by wendell at 6:03 PM on March 26, 2008
Awesome! I first discovered Tom Lehrer as a little kid going through my parent's old records. He twisted my sense of humor in the right directions very young. Thank you so much! This rocks! posted by MythMaker at 6:18 PM on March 26, 2008
Me too--as a little kid, I didn't understand most of what I thought was so funny (except poisoning pigeons in the park); I was rewarded even more amply when I listened to him again with the years behind me. posted by not_on_display at 6:25 PM on March 26, 2008
"National Brotherhood Week" is as sharp today as it was 40 years ago -- and probably 40 years from now, more's the pity. posted by escabeche at 6:34 PM on March 26, 2008
The entirety of "An Evening Wasted..."? Where's "Oedipus Rex"? "The Elements"? I wait with bated breath... posted by kersplunk at 6:43 PM on March 26, 2008

WOOHOO!!!! Fucking hell... amazing. It is of course the entirety of That Was The Year That Was, but never mind posted by criticalbill at 5:40 AM on March 27, 2008
I've been a Lehrer fan for years, but have never actually seen video of him performing before. Now that I have, I think my suspicions are finally confirmed as to why the man is a "confirmed bachelor" at age 79...too bad he never officially came out. I have to wonder if this influenced his lamentable decision to stop performing and touring.
(On a not unrelated note, the fun fact for today is that Lehrer went to summer camp with Stephen Sondheim.) posted by Asparagirl at 10:07 AM on March 27, 2008
