maybe if there hadn't been that rash of abandoned infants in the last few years.... nah.

Yeah, I've usually got a pretty twisted sense of humor and I found that very unfunny.

Man. I thought it was hilarious. Especially that part about putting those stickers on the baby changing stations IRL. I'd like to see someone's face in the man's room of the mall as they walked past that thing and realized what it was...

I can't help but find this stuff funny. I grew up on Monty Python and Airplane movies...

It could be a funny idea, if it weren't half warnings that it's not for real and ploys to get you to buy their t-shirts...

Of course, Monty Python and Airplane are clearly fiction.

I'm in favor of clear disclaimers -- just to cut down on the hatemail and misunderstandings.

It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

lame...
but then I'm a "concerned parent" these days.

I might have liked it when I was 15.

Puh-lease. You people are too sensitive. If people are so stupid they can't tell that this is a joke, then I sincerely hope that their stupidity one day gets them killed.

Wait Spank, are you being ironic, or serious with your hope that people die?

I'm too sensitive and stupid to tell the difference.

When someone actually DOES squish a baby, is someone going to post a link to that too?

Yeah, what about the kids?

Well, Leftie...I mean, artlung. I do think ironic covers it best. You have my condolences on being too sensitive and stupid to tell the difference.

I'm not one to complain about dark humor, but I have to admit as a parent of two I had to fight my natural warm, fuzzy breeder feelings in order to appreciate that site. They really do look like baby smashers.

can we cut the insults spanktacular? you think it's funny, lots of folks here don't. everyone who doesn't agree with you is stupid? what's the big deal?

skallas, who said anything about freedom of expression and its defense? is this site under attack by government forces threatening to shut it down? and is no one speaking up?

get a grip. I don't like the site for the same reason I don't like those wassup commercials: it's not funny.

Wow.. so my site got linked here...

suggestions to make it funnier are more than welcome.. think I should move the disclaimer? tone down any of the text? Lots of "poo poo" feedback, but no real ideas...

Of course we want to sell some stickers (moreso than the tshirts really.. those were added via cafepress by popular demand) -- we want to see them up all over america!

email suggestions to me at feedback@babysmasher.com (or hate mail, that's fine too...)

Rebecca, dearest. I was only replying with a quote of artlung's own self-deprecating humor. Lighten up. I'm the one who's experiencing a number of people jumping up my ass because of a site I linked here. Pardon the Hell outta me for being a bit defensive...

Wait, now I'm not the sensitive one? Now it looks like Spank is the ultra-sensitive one.

I'd like to point out that online, things are easily misunderstood, and if you make a joke likely to be misunderstood (like, say a joke site about maiming children or animals), you should consider the misunderstandings likely to result, and perhaps make an effort to deflect them.

Just as I need to take care lest my words be misunderstood, I think these parody sites should do likewise. Does it dull the joke so much to include a clear disclaimer?

I say if your humor can't take a little disclaimer, it's not that funny to begin with.

I'll say again though, that I'm super-pro free speech and would never suggest enforcing by law these kind of rules.

But there are those who would, and I think a little simple responsibility goes a long way. The analogy I'd use is the "you're not allowed to yell 'fire' in a crowded theatre." It would be very easy to see courts apply similar standards to websites.

This is why I would *personally* gently urge "extreme humor" sites to play it carefully. If the great, unwashed masses decide there's too much of this stuff online, they just might get it in their head to fund all kinds of draconian censor-happy net-cops who will end up stifling discourse on the net. We have enough thought police as it is.

And that, is my very inefficient point.
