Tim Harrod is a writer for Conan O'Brien. He spends quite a bit of time at Freddy's bar in Brooklyn. There he uses the napkins to create his own Bar-Toons.

Cute. So, Freddy's hasn't been knocked down yet? Isn't it in the development path for the new arena? Or has that all changed and / or gone away since I left Brooklyn?

It's funny, the guy drawing on napkins at bars always attracts a little attention. Of course, when you then post them to your blog it attracts a little more attention.

dersins--last I heard Ratner's not currently able, given that loans have dried up due to the banking crisis, to generate the necessary funds (funds that like the banks themselves are all given risk-free at taxpayer expense), and so Atlantic Yards project is on hold. I could be really wrong about this, but last time I saw the owner of Freddy's he seemed less than worried. (When I lived around the corner from that bar 14 years ago it was still a cop bar, given the precinct house nearby, and thus like the last place anyone would want to drink--since the cops were all carrying, and getting loaded while carrying, and since there were at least two cops who shot themselves in bar bathrooms in bklyn around that time. I do know a corrctions office who packs heat who I used to drink with, and he once told me about a cop bar near Rikers that sounded like an accident waiting to happen. Ah the good old days of NYC).
