Politics is a continuation of war by other means

The Game of War is a kriegspiel by the late Guy Debord and Alice Becker-Ho. The first English edition of the game was published last year, and there is now also a ‘massively two-player’ on-line version, which, alas, recently prompted a cease-&-desist letter from Ms Becker-Ho.

There is a glimpse of the game being played in Debord’s 1978 film In Girum Imus Nocte Et Consumimur Igni.

The only winning move is not to play.

Much as I love this game and topic, I must point out that it's a double.

This Kriegspiel - it's interesting but I can't figure out the optimal Debordling rush tactic. I keep running out of minerals and I never have enough Vespene gas to upgrade my Unitary Urbanlisks with Detournment.

(This Starcraft / SI joke brought to you by my lack of shame and gaming addiction)

Oops—my apologies. I've flagged it and am working on pretending like it never happened.

I think the c&d is a striking enough development to warrant a new post, since the old one is closed. So much for those wild and crazy Situationists. When they get pissed off, they reach for a lawyer just like the bourgeois oppressors.
