The pilot did it. Remember the EgyptAir crash? NTSB says it was a "deliberate act", but EgyptAir won't accept that explanation instead insisting there was a problem with the plane.

There was a problem with the plane -- it was piloted by a depressed, suicidal religiously imbalanced whack job. The transcripts from the cockpit and the telemetric data from the flight recorders made this pretty clear, it's sad the Egyptian government refuses to accept it.

Makes me wonder if airlines have stepped up their psychological screening in the wake of this.

It was the co-pilot. The pilot was away using the bathroom, came back and tried (and failed) to save the plane.
