A few nice posters here. But once typeography was separated from actual hard type, or the notion that the designer needed to simulate or relate back to hard type, it lost something. Type on a computer is weightless, inconsequential. Illiteracy is growing among graphic designers. There was a time when love of type and design grew out of a love of reading, and a near sacred regard for the written word. Oh yeah, and, new rule: lay off the big ampersands. Two little words with a huge ampersand between them has been done, done, done.

Smashing Magazine always has good stuff, but I get tired of their massive posts. Getting through one can be tiresome.

I thought many were lovely, if not necessarily a showcase of type as opposed to general design. I was bothered by the desktop with the period outside the asterisk.

I'm not usually the biggest fan of the "sideways text" gimmick, but I have to say it was really used to good effect here.
