Dream-like "redneck mansion" is (disappointingly) actually a theatre set, but still a great bit of architecture.

Chekhov wrote a play about people who stack trailers? Well, duh. Trailer stacking is an underlying theme in all of Chekhov's work.

Ivanov's trailer house. Left, the front of the house and the picnic table. One of the windows is open. In front of the picnic table is a broad semicircular space from which weed-lined walks lead left and right. Right, rows of vegetables and plastic chairs. On the picnic table, a lamp is burning. Evening; it is growing dark. As the curtain rises, we hear music from the boombox. Ivanov sits by the table and reads. Borkin appears at the end of one of the walks, wearing shitkicker boots and carrying a shotgun; he's been drinking. When he sees Ivanov, he sneaks up close to him and points the shotgun in his face. IVANOV. (Sees Borkin, gives a start, and jumps to his feet.) Shee-it, you sumbitch, you ever do that agin and you'll be so far down the swamp the alligators won't find you!

My ex's cousin used to do something like this without the stacking -- he lived in rural NC in a little complex or compound of singlewides. His logic was that trailers were taxed differently (and less) than real houses, so he saved money on his property taxes. On the other hand, he lived in a bunch of old trailers and an unseaworthy trimaran, and was very scientologist.

See, that's actually what Chekhov wrote, but the director kept telling him "Too many words, Anton, cut it down! Cut cut cut! We need to get this thing down to where it suits the short attention span of today's audiences!"
