No kidding, what the heck does SOAP or XML-RPC have to do with the rest of that interview? As for saving blogging that's needless silly hyperbole, but I guess we all know that?

Saving Blogger does not equal saving blogging. Maintaining a weblog doesn't require a Web-based content management system -- or indeed, any kind of tool at all. Many of the best weblogs out there are maintained entirely by hand. That's not to say blogging doesn't need to be saved, of course. But saving a piece of software isn't going to be enough.

Maybe it's the fact that CNET and Reuters are wetting themselves at the thought of Blogger's merging into that grand hierarchy they presume dictates the "direction" of the Web. "At last, we can use the 'corporate Web template' to write about Blogger (Lotus, VisiCalc, SOAP) rather than have to dig out that 'A-list template' and embellish it with a little real research." Oh fucking joy.
